My start in pest control began the summer of 1999 when I was recruited by Orkin as a summer technician in southern California. My primary responsibility was to treat the homes of newly acquired customers. I quickly picked up on the necessary service techniques and was soon promoted to run a regular route. My summer work ended that year in late August.
The following summer I returned to work for Orkin in Alabama. I again serviced homes for new customers and was promoted to run a regular route until September of 2000 when I left to do school. 2 years later I was recruited to operate an Orkin franchise in New Mexico. I was over all the operations for that particular branch and gained great experience while there.
I left Orkin to help assist with starting a pest control company, Foxx, in the Kansas City area. One of my main responsibilities was to establish service protocol and train the newly hired technicians. Although I enjoyed my short time with Foxx, I had made a prior commitment to help establish Mountain West Pest Control in Utah. MWPC quickly became the largest residential pest control service company in Utah. I was responsible for training the technicians and setting up quality control procedures.
After working for MWPC for 2 years, I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to start a new branch for the company in 2005. This branch was renamed Rove Pest Control. I worked for Rove as branch manager for 9 years, overseeing operations in both the Tulsa and Oklahoma City areas. Rove Pest Control merged with Terminix in January of 2014.
I continued thru with Terminix as branch manager in both the Oklahoma branches. When my contract with Terminix was nearing its end, I knew I wanted to continue in pest control and offer customers a more friendly and personal service. I contacted Rick (a friend since high school) and together we partnered up and Mantis Pest Solutions was born. Starting Mantis has been one of the most rewarding and challenging opportunities of my life. My family and I enjoy working with the great people of Kansas City and have felt very welcome.
Thank you, Kansas City, for making my dream come true!!
Thanks Mantis. You saved my family.Tom Simpson
